Katy Walden graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art from Falmouth School of Art in 1994 and is still drawn to the coast as inspiration for her work, as well subjects closer to her Warwick home. Her work is based on observation, using her visual language of brush strokes and marks to capture the essence and light of a landscape or still life. She also enjoys the challenge of capturing people and accepts portrait commissions.
Katy has previously exhibited works in The Mall Galleries and won an award with the N.E.A.C prior to having a long break from producing and showing artwork.
She has taught children's painting classes in Leamington for several years and within the last 2 years has allowed herself more time for her own practice. Katy is grateful to be awarded the Emerge bursary to allow her to take part in Warwickshire Open Studios for the first time.
