I’m looking for new locations to exhibit my work, if you like my work and run a Gallery I’d love to talk to you to explore the possibilities further.
From a very early age I’ve tried to spend a portion of each day outside & the inspiration for my work is drawn from the natural world, the constantly changing colours of the sky, sea, land & the organic flowing forms of plants, trees & the varied colours, textures & grain patterns of wood.
I’m a Craftsman, Wood Turner & Maker with an appreciation & love of beautiful things, particularly wood & its organic forms, varied textures, colours & strikingly different grain patterns. In my bespoke work & woodturning I try to utilise, exploit & enhance these natural characteristics by using simple forms, sympathetic shaping & flowing lines. Colour forms an integral part of my work & I use the application of colour, liming waxes & burning to add contrast, texture & depth to my work to highlight & enhance the natural grain patterns.
Design simplicity, form, function & fitness for purpose are important elements of my work especially when working with old, discarded items & materials, I love the character & often hidden charm of these unwanted items & I relish the challenges of working with unwanted materials using them to create new, interesting & functional pieces.
