Solo exhibition with The Harbour Gallery at the Fisherman's Shelter, Portscatho - July 29th-31st
I live and work in Stratford-upon-Avon and have had a varied career as a professional artist and illustrator. After studying for a Graphic Design degree in London I began work as a designer for a textile company in the Midlands. Realising the appeal of a freelance life, I subsequently worked in a variety of fields such as stationery, giftware, homeware and toy manufacture before becoming a book illustrator and writer for several years.
I had always wanted to express myself more through my work and in 2010 I waved goodbye to corporate clients and deadlines and began painting the British countryside and coast that I love. Living in the centre of England is a bonus as it allows for a lot of exploring, but sometimes a simple bunch of flowers from my garden provides me with the perfect subject matter.
I enjoy experimenting with texture and mixed media, though I mostly use acrylic paint, as I love its versatility and depth of colour.
