I am a keen local artist and have been painting the natural world for over 20 years, and am a regular exhibitor with Warwickshire Open Studios and with other groups. I am part of Future Rabbit Collective, and we have exhibited together regularly and I really enjoy being part of this creative group of artists. I will also be exhibiting again at Art in the Park in Leamington Spa this year, 7-8 August 2021. Do come and visit, it's a great day out!
I paint mainly in acrylic and mixed media, and love trying to capture the feeling of the light and ever changing weather on land, sea and sky, especially around the Cornish coast near St.Ives. I am also a keen photographer and have been taking photographs over many decades (with a fairly big gap in the middle). I was particularly inspired by a trip to Iceland and hope to go again this October.
I have a large selection of new work: paintings and photography, originals and prints and also cards of many of my paintings.
I am passionate about both painting and photography, and my hope is that my images stir an emotional response in the viewer. My paintings develop as I go, and I often abandon my brushes in favour of rags, cloths, twigs, whatever I have to hand (including my own hands!) Sometimes I create quite still images, but most of the time I bring a lot of energy to my work in my quest to create an image that expresses an atmosphere and a feeling of freedom, light and emotion, rather than an exact replica of what was there.
In my day job I am an Arts Psychotherapist, and I am endlessly fascinated by the creative process, the struggle between dark and light in our lives, and the challenges of letting go in order to find something deeper and more authentic. Do come and see my work!
