I will also be exhibiting this year, as part of Potfest-in-the-Pens, in Penrith on the 30th, 31st July and 1st August.
My home and studio are in Warwick. I make pots using a potter’s wheel. I like to use porcelain to throw bowls of various sizes. The bowl shape suits my purposes for the kind of decoration I like to do, which is inspired by nature and sometimes incorporates poetry or text. Each piece is thrown on the potter’s wheel and trimmed. When dry I paint them with black and coloured clay slips which I sometimes scratch into to reveal the white of the porcelain underneath. The pots are ‘bisque’ fired to 1000 degrees, then dipped in transparent glaze and fired to 1240 degrees.
Recent work has been mostly black and white but I Iook forward to using more colour for this exhibition!
My work is available directly here, from my website shop or studio visit/ by appointment. Also, online through the Blue Ginger Gallery www.blue-ginger.com/shop and Etsy.com/shop/poetrypots
I run occasional workshops in my studio for adults and children.
