Workshops are starting again soon! Workshops are currently fully booked until August, but with new dates coming soon for Summer, Autumn and early Winter. Please sign up to my newsletter on my website to hear new dates first - www.alixalmond.com - or e-mail me to be placed on the waiting list.
Held at Bonds Lifestyle, a fabulous venue just outside Stratford-upon-Avon, these day workshops will teach you how to create your own single colour linocuts as well as giving you techniques to use to carry on printing in your own home. Workshops include a light lunch, a morning tea/coffee plus and afternoon tea/coffee and cake as well! A great day out and good for the soul alongside learning a new skill.
I am a full time artist and split my time between making art and teaching linocut workshops at venues around Warwickshire. I am a predominantly self taught printmaker; I began printmaking after attending a workshop in November 2015 at Birmingham Printmakers and the bug was well and truly caught! I create single colour, multi-block and reduction linocut prints. I also create pencil and pencil crayon drawings. My drawings are ‘true to life’ but my linocuts have a more contemporary feel. I enjoy creating images of animals and birds and take inspiration from nature. I capture the character and detail of the animals, forgoing background to concentrate on the beauty, patterns and textures that can be found.
I graduated from Warwick University in 2002 with a BA(QTS) Art Hons. Over the following 15 years I taught in two primary schools before becoming a full time artist.
I had two works exhibited as part of the Coventry Open at the Herbert Art Gallery in 2019 and also had work featured in the 2019 exhibition ‘Project Coventry’ at Holyhead Studios. In 2020, my Dodo print was also been chosen to be part of Compton Verney’s Giant Advent Calendar.
I am an active member of Warwickshire Open Studios and have been Schools’ Coordinator for the past three years, as well as exhibiting with them since 2017 as part of their Summer Open Studios.
