Coventry designer maker Adam Hussain is awarded a fellowship by the ‘Society of Designer Craftsmen’ in London. This award recognises his achievements in the discipline of kiln-formed Glass. It celebrates the excellent quality of his handmade work and commitment to craft. The society said that Adam’s work enables the Society to show future generations of makers what is possible with a dedication to craft.
The ‘SDC’ is the oldest multi-disciplinary Society in the UK, it has some of the finest, most exciting and respected designer makers of today and since founding in 1887. The Society has some of the most prominent names in design and craft as past members, including William Morris and Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Adam said “I am so pleased about becoming a fellow of the Society, I have been a member since graduating in 2008. I’ve exhibited my artworks at ‘SDC’ exhibitions around the UK, including at ‘The Mall Galleries’ in London on a number of occasions. Its a wonderful Society to be a member of, as the quality of the craftsmanship from its members is outstanding”

Adam will be exhibiting his artworks from his studio in Earlsdon, Coventry. This is an ideal opportunity to see how he makes his creations in his industrial creative space.
He will be showcasing artworks from his latest collection ‘From Above’ which are inspired by abstract satellite imagery of landscapes and cities. He will also be making new work from his award winning past collections.
Adam has been working with warm glass processes since 2008 and was recently awarded a fellowship from the ‘Society of Designer Craftsmen’ in London. This award recognises his dedication to Contemporary Crafts and his skills in the discipline of glass.
He has exhibited his artworks with the Crafts Council and in 2018 and 2019, he was their ‘Talent Ambassador’ for the West Midlands.
Adam also works on large scale site specific installations for corporate environments and private commissions for home interiors.
